The media for this four drawing series are acrylic and watercolor pencil on rag paper. The subject matter is concerned with a re-vision of the arc, so prevalent in my visual language. The arc over the years has been tamed and re-tamed. The Going Vertical Series was the last series where the arc is identifiable as a complete unit. |

I knew that I had to step away from the constant use of the arc template. The template had become the gem of my art and crucial to the development of my language for nearly twenty years. Putting the template away meant I was letting go of restriction. In these four drawings, the different colors signify emerald (green), topaz (orange), amethyst (purple) and diamond (yellow). |

This four drawing series was the second group where I seriously undertook the task of diffusing the stateliness of the "omnipresent arc" by breaking it up into random shapes. The arc template was overlapped many times. Each drawing is a different medium: charcoal, colored pencil, ink and the last is simply pencil. |
